How our PhD scholarships work

The scholarship covers your tuition fees (at UK/EU levels) and maintenance at Research Council UK levels, for three years of full-time study, commencing in October 2016.

There are two types of scholarships available

• Vice-Chancellor's (VC) awards – aligned with the University's strategic research priorities
• Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) – programmes which are designed to develop the next generation of academics. These include teacher training and up to six hours' contact time with undergraduate students each week
