Postgraduate research

A PhD in CRESR is a unique experience. PhD candidates are treated as integral members of the CRESR team, located directly alongside staff in the Centre. PhD researchers benefit from and contribute to a thriving, collegiate research environment. CRESR has a strong commitment to academically rich, applied policy research which provides a particularly enriching research environment for postgraduate scholars, providing detailed day-to-day insights to the world of policy and practice through an academic lens.

CRESR has a highly successful PhD progranme and a thriving research environment, which was recognised in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). PhD supervision, which is undertaken by leading academics, is available across each of the centre's key areas of expertise:

Our PhD programme is overseen by postgraduate tutor Will Eadson, and there are currently 14 PhD students at CRESR studying a diverse range of topics. There are is a range of ways in which we actively support our students, find out more.
