The Lambeth Housing Standard Health Impact Assessment

To carry out a Health Impact Assessment on the health and quality of life, including security and mental well-being of Lambeth’s residents based on the impact of the Decent Homes (‘DH’) programme and the Lambeth Housing Standard (‘LHS’) programme on the Council’s own housing stock.  This research and consultancy project aims to:

  • Evaluate the impact and scale of social and health benefits of investment in improving the social housing stock in the London Borough of Lambeth, specifically benefits to individuals, the NHS, criminal justice system and labour market of remedying housing related ill health
  • Assess the impact and wider socio-economic and environment benefits arising from associated investment in people, place and property.  
  • Monetise the benefits when technically possible, and identify the most cost effective interventions to improve the condition of social housing and maximise impacts on tenants and the wider community.
  • Assist the Council and other stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes from the housing stock.
