Ben Pattison

CRESR is devastated to report the death of our brilliant colleague Ben Pattison, who passed away on Thursday 19 March at the age of 40. Ben had been battling myeloma and amyloidosis for the past year with incredible stoicism and bravery.

The housing studies community in the UK has lost an amazing colleague, a careful and rigorous researcher and, most of all, a passionate advocate for policies to help those most disadvantaged by the inequalities within our society’s housing system. Ben’s compassion for the plight of the homeless and his views on the senselessness of the national scourge of homelessness lived on even when he was personally weakened by the severity of his illness.

We are incredibly sad. After our grief, our work continues. It does so in memory of, and to honour, our friend and colleague Ben.
