Time:
10.00 - 11.30 am
Tracing out the analytic linkages between these three nodes of my work (anchored by the books Urban Outcasts, Punishing the Poor, and Body & Soul) provides an opportunity to take stock, but also to explicate the epistemological tenets, the theoretical tricks, and the empirical synergy between what might appear as dispersed if not disconnected inquiries. I hope that clarifying the principles of their shared intelligibility will allow and even entice others to borrow some of the conceptual moves and extend some of the theories elaborated in them.
Professor Wacquant will speak around the triad of marginality, penality and carnality for about 30 minutes. This will be followed by an open Q&A session on his work, in which people may ask whatever questions they wish. The session will be chaired by Professor Ian Cole (CRESR, SHU). All welcome.
