Sheffield Hallam University is set to host a ‘publishing roadshow’ with New Writing North and Hachette Children's Books for aspiring children’s writers.

Designed to help support new writers, the evening, to be held on Wednesday 29 January, will be packed with advice for emerging writers looking for publication opportunities.

In addition to talks and networking opportunities there will also be sessions on the author-agent relationship, finding outlets for new work and advice for writers considering applying for the Northern Writers’ Awards and other opportunities.

Niamh Downing, Head of Humanities at Sheffield Hallam University said: “We’re thrilled to welcome New Writing North to Sheffield Hallam University and to offer this fantastic opportunity for our students to learn about children’s publishing from industry experts.”

Speakers include:

  • Fiction Editorial Director of Hachette Children's Group, Kate Agar
  • Senior Commissioning and Managing Editor Rachel Wade, Hachette
  • Senior Commissioning Editor Tig Wallace, Hachette

The University will also welcome the children’s agent and judge, Chloe Seager, and the author and winner of the 2019 prize, James Harris.
