Nicola is the head of the University's Biomolecular Research Centre and has worked within biomedical research for over 30 years, with particular focus on Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Nicola's main interest is in the study of post-mortem brain tissue using pathological and immunological techniques to get an understanding of the immune mechanisms within the brain of an MS patient. Nicola chairs the Women Professors' Group which seeks to support and inspire female academics to advance their careers to professorial level and she is also a champion of women in science.
