Michael Edwards was appointed as Public Defender in Georgia in 2004 and for the past 11 years represented indigent (poor) persons charged with felony offenses in Superior Court, youth charged with delinquency offenses in Juvenile Court and both adults and youth in appellate courts. 

He is a member of South University's Criminal Justice Advisory Board and previously served at the university as an adjunct professor. 

He is a visiting professor at Sheffield Hallam until July 2016.
