Jo's research primarily examines sport policy and programming, especially of international organisations that use sport for development purposes in Africa. In addition to her research and work in Africa, Jo's has led sports participation provision for National Governing Bodies, sports charities and trusts for over a decade in the UK and New Zealand which has resulted in an extensive knowledge of sport development sector and participation patterns.  Jo is also passionate about the motivations of volunteers who deliver sports programmes in the UK and in an international context.
