Sheffield Hallam University will welcome the north of England's most promising legal talent this weekend in a competition to find the region's top law students.

The Northern Regional Final of the International Client Interviewing Competition will see hopeful students from 15 of the region's universities aiming to impress the judges and secure a place in the national final.

Sheffield Hallam is hosting the event for the North region on Saturday 10 February which takes place at the University's Collegiate Campus. Regional finals are also taking place in the South West and South East, with a total of 39 universities taking part across the country.

The competition will test law students' skills in conducting interviews with actor clients on a range of legal issues in front of a panel of judges made up of solicitors, barristers and legal academics.

The top teams from each region will secure their place in the national finals which take place on 10 March, with the winners of the national event going on to represent England and Wales at the International Client Consultation Competition in April 2018 in the Netherlands.

Gillian Pastuch, senior lecturer in law at Sheffield Hallam, said: "We are delighted to be able to host this prestigious event and provide our law students, and students across the North, with the opportunity to develop client care skills that are crucial to any lawyer.

"We are hugely grateful to our guest judges from across the legal profession for giving up their time to assist us with judging the competition."
