Charlotte's research area is forensic psychology, focusing on children and their interactions with crime and legal services.

Her primary area of expertise is in Child Eyewitness Testimony and forensic interviews with children.

She also have much experience in applied research, particularly with South Yorkshire Police, with whom she has explored perceptions of policing and engagement with young people, reducing RTC's around primary schools, evaluating change in the workplace, and most recently undertook the first evaluation of a police led intervention into knife crime awareness.

Further, as part of the Forensic and Investigative Research Group (FAIR), she is exploring the factors associated with knife crime, based on analyses of previous cases, with a view to develop a knife crime risk measure to assist officer decision making.
