Anna is a former professional tennis player (ranked GB no.2). Now an academic, her research interests are performance and data analysis in tennis, representative design, constraints and implications for coaching and skill acquisition. Recent publications have included analysis of factors related to elite tennis success and adapting the training environment to enhance youth player development.

Working in collaboration with SHU’s world-renowned Centre for Sports Engineering Research and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Anna’s doctoral research explores the use of performance data to better inform tennis coaching practice. Anna combines her Ph.D. with her role as an Associate Lecturer in Sports Science.

Anna is also actively engaged in using tennis as a vehicle for youth mentoring and social development, as part of the LTA's Beyond the Baseline mentor scheme.
