A third year student has got her career off to the best possible start by winning a permanent job with a salary of up to £26,000 in a national competition.

Abigail Cozens, an events management student at Sheffield Hallam University, will start work at London-based Tarsus Group later this year after winning The Eventice competition.

Abigail, 23, will be taking up a role as a sales executive for the company after impressing judges with a range of tasks including a video pitch, interview and practical tasks.

The competition was organised by The Event Magazine and the winners were announced at a ceremony in London last week.

Abigail, originally from Newark, Nottinghamshire, will start her new role on a salary of £20,000 per year with a £6,000 commission on offer if she hits sales targets.

Abigail said: "I'm really excited about the job and about moving to London. Getting a job in the capital was always part of my plans but I didn't expect it to happen like this.

"Sheffield Hallam offer a great grounding for events management professionals and it clearly impressed the judges."

The Eventice is a competition styled on The Apprentice which is organised by Event and ESP Recruitment. Finalists competed in a number of tasks including a filming and photography module, a buying task and two presentations. Abigail was one of two competition winners from a shortlist of 12.
