Here you will find an overview of Art and Design Specific activity and participation opportunities available to Schools and Colleges, including Course talks, Masterclasses and Facility tours. Details on how you can book these sessions or find out more are listed at the bottom of this page.
Delivered by one of our academics, these talks aim to give an insight into what studying an Art and Design degree with SIA is like, and can focus on any A+D course currently on offer.
Details of course content, entry requirements and portfolio guidance can all be covered as part of these sessions.
Course talks can be delivered within your institution, or as part of a visit to Sheffield Hallam University.
Masterclasses are in-depth, academic led sessions that offer A level, BTEC and foundation students a chance to get hands-on with an aspect of Art and Design.
Students are guided through a 90 minute/2 hour workshop, taking in the theory and practice of a specific course area, and given the chance to experiment with materials/mediums they may not be familiar with.
Masterclasses are available in the following subject areas:
- Fine Art
- Fashion Design/Fashion Management
- Graphic Design
- Interior Design
- Jewellery and Metalwork
- Interior Design
- Product Design
These sessions are run three times a year as part of our Masterclass week programme.
Our next masterclass weeks will run during the week commencing 20th March and week commencing 12th June.

Opportunities for Key Stage 4 pupils
Aimed at students in years 10/11, these sessions offer a snapshot of related study to those considering taking an Art and Design subject post-16.
These sessions are led by our trained Art+Design student ambassadors, who provide a unique insight into what it takes to study a creative subject at degree level.
Duration: 50 minutes to 1 hour

Teachers and Advisors
We would like to invite you to an evening we will be hosting for teachers / tutors on Thursday 23rd March.This event is the first of an on-going series of Teacher / tutors events that will give you the opportunity to learn about the work of the Art & Design Department, explore opportunities for working together and meet academics and teachers from your own discipline.

Student Led Tours of the Sheffield Institute of Arts
