Working mainly for government departments and agencies, we research and evaluate key education policies. Recent studies include

  • researching exclusion appeals (DfE)
  • process evaluation of the Y1 phonics screening check (DfE)
  • investigating Key Stage 2 level 6 tests in mathematics and reading (DfE)
  • Think Forward mentoring project (Education Endowment Foundation)
  • conducting a social return on investment analysis of a number of grants (National College for School Leadership)
  • PSHE education mapping and impact study (DfE)

Our nationally and internationally recognised subject experts have expertise in the key subject areas of English, mathematics, science and special educational needs.

English/literacy studies include

  • evaluation of a number of studies for Booktrust, the reading charity
  • oracy intervention evaluation (Education Endowment Foundation)
  • two reading for pleasure evaluations (Education Endowment Foundation)

Mathematics and science studies include

  • four studies for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics
  • multiplicative reasoning RCT (DfE)
  • examining the role of the National Science Learning Centre's work on teacher careers

SEN studies include

  • evaluation of the family of schools exceptional needs support programme (Sheffield LA)

Cross-cutting studies include
