Academics at Sheffield Hallam University are helping hospitality companies in the Sheffield City Region prepare for a future after Covid-19 with a series of free webinars.

The sessions are being run in partnership with the ScaleUp 360 programme, a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project that supports businesses and entrepreneurs to drive innovation and create employment opportunities within the Sheffield City Region.

The ScaleUp 360 programme is delivered by an partnership led by Sheffield Hallam University, with The Business Village @ BarnsleyBIC, Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and East Midlands Chamber of Commerce. 

Beyond access to the hospitality sector resources below, businesses who register with ScaleUp 360 will have a dedicated account manager whose role it will be to ensure they have access to the scale-up expertise, knowledge and connections they need to grow a sustainable business.

This includes business workshops, mentoring, incubation support and networking, design and prototyping and one-to-one business advice.

James Ellerby, senior lecturer in hospitality business management said: “Covid-19 has had a significant impact on all our lives and workplaces, with hospitality being one of the most severely affected industries.

“We want to support our local hospitality businesses both now and for their futures. That is  why we have developed this series of completely free online resources, available to businesses within the Sheffield City Region.”

These will include a blend of taught content, panel discussions and live Q&As. The initial list of topics includes:

• Thursday 4 June - Lessons from the past: restaurant recovery in a global recession

• Thursday 11 June - The future of service in hospitality

• Wednesday 17 June - Hospitality revenue management for the Covid-19 recovery

• Thursday 25 June - Innovation: re-think, re-visit, reinvent - Developing resilient hospitality business models

• Thursday 2 July - Food supply chain challenges and solutions

• Thursday 9 July - Food and business ethics: making the ‘right’ decisions for the future
